Monetary circulation of State-issued coins
Article 18 of the 23 December 1998 law relative to the monetary status and the Central Bank of Luxembourg provides that the Central Bank puts in circulation monetary signs in the form of metallic coins, which are issued in the name and on behalf of the Treasury. Since 1 January 2002, the State therefore acts as the issuer of Luxembourgish euro coins.
